SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — For the second game in a row, California Baptist University found itself trailing early, but try as it might, couldn't claw back all the way from a three-goal deficit. Dominican University of California took the game Saturday afternoon 3-1, despite the Lancers outshooting the Penguins 10-6.
CBU falls to 1-5-1, 1-1 in PacWest, while DUC improves to the same record.
After controlling most of the first half, the Lancers let up just six seconds too soon, surrendering a goal to go into halftime down 1-0.
Coming out of the break, CBU tried to fight back into the game, but 15 minutes in found itself in a 3-0 hole.
Angelique Carrillo gave the Lancers a much-needed spark in the 75th minute, giving herself a birthday present with a goal to the far post.
The Lancers kept pushing in hopes of cutting more into the deficit, but couldn't find the back of the net to drop the game 3-1.
CBU returns home to host Concordia of Irvine on Thursday, kicking off at 12:30 p.m.
