RIVERSIDE--- The NCAA announced the Division I Women's Soccer Tournament bracket on Monday afternoon, notifying programs of first-round matches. The California Baptist women's soccer program was selected in the bottom right corner of the bracket and will battle #3 University of Kansas on Friday evening in Lawrence, Kansas.
CBU returns to the NCAA Tournament after another comeback Western Athletic Conference Tournament Championship win, defeating Utah Valley in Orem, Utah, in penalty kicks to defend its crown. However, the Wolverines' season did not end as the WAC squad was selected to the top right corner of the NCAA bracket after finishing the season with an RPI of 40, and will face #5 Colorado during the first round.
This will be the first time in women's soccer program history that the Lancers will face off against the Jayhawks. Kansas comes to the NCAA Tournament after falling just short of earning the title of Big 12 Soccer Tournament Champions, as the squad lost to BYU 1-0 on Saturday. UK defeated #19 West Virginia and #12 Colorado during the opening rounds of the tournament and currently holds a 14-5-3 overall record.
#3 Kansas and California Baptist are set to compete on Friday, November 14th at 4 p.m. PST at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas. Fans can catch the game on ESPN+.
