BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Bakersfield is always a dual circled on the calendar for California Baptist University since it gives the Lancers the opportunity to show what they can do up against NCAA Division I competition.

An upperclassman and true freshman – Alexis Ohmar and Scott Tolman, respectively – put on an amazing performance on Saturday to lead CBU to a tight finish in a 156-138 loss in the team's first dual meet of the year.

Ohmar won four events and Tolman won three of his to put up a large portion of those points. Ohmar posted wins in the 100, 200 and 500-yard freestyles, with respective times on 47.08 seconds, 1:42.56 and 4:42.45. He also anchored CBU's victorius 400-free relay team, which included Bernardo Valentim, Christian Britton and Adrien Deloffre, with a 3:07.29 finish.

Tolman claimed the 100 (56.04) and 200 breasts (2:03.70) and then won the 200 individual medley in 1:55.24. Robert Griffith added another individual win for the Lancers, who otherwise relied on their depth against the Roadrunners. He grabbed a victory in the 1000 free (9:45.27) and took second in the 500 free (4:43.60).

Deloffre was a big part of CBU's success, as well, finishing right behind Ohmar in two events. He took second in the 200 free (1:43.62) to give the Lancers the top-two finishers and then was third in the 100 free (47.17).

Justin Quiroga supplied CBU with three top-four swims, taking second in the 100 butterfly (51.62), third in the 200 IM (1:57.03) and fourth in the 200 fly (1:56.49).

Chris Sands finished in front of Quiroga in third palce during the 200 fly (1:56.15). Reese Gonzales also took fourth in the 100 breast (1:01.48).

Zach Parry and Andrew Rotundo finished second and third in both the 1 and 3-meter dives. Parry compiled 279.75 points on the 3-meter and 257.93 on the one. Rotundo amassed 259.43 points on the three-meter and 222.75 on the one.
