RIVERSIDE, Calif. — After pulling out all the tricks in a 6-0 win on Saturday, California Baptist University was treated with a PacWest weekly honor Monday morning.
Â
Sebastian Wiesboeck was named the PacWest Freshman of the Week – the second-consecutive honor for CBU – following a three-point performance in the Lancers' monstrous victory over Holy Names. The freshman scored a goal and assisted on another in the win.
Â
In the 49th minute, he sent a cross to James Bogdanovich, who flicked it on to Baptiste Marec for the Lancers' second goal. He scored the fifth goal of the game, one-timing a back pass from Bogdanovich from the penalty-kick line. Wiesboeck had eight shots, with five on goal, and scored his second-career goal in the last four games.
Â
Wiesboeck and the rest of the Lancers conclude the regular season this week, hosting Academy of Art on Thursday before heading to Dixie State – which ranks fourth in the West Region – on Saturday. As the seventh-ranked team in the region, CBU needs to be one of the top-six teams in the West when the NCAA Division II Tournament Selection Show airs Monday. Â
