CBU Keeps Hot Streak Going

POMONA, Calif. – California Baptist University kept up its hot streak, with two more wins at the Gary Troyer Tournament on Saturday, giving them four wins this weekend and 10 wins in its past 11 games.
The 15th-ranked Lancers added a 12-9 victory over Redlands and 17-3 defeat of McKendree on Saturday at Pomona-Pitzer to their season resumes. CBU improves to 13-7 heading into a Western Water Polo Association road trip to UC San Diego on Saturday, Oct. 15th for a 5 p.m. game. Redlands pulls even to 10-10 this year, and McKendree slips to 9-11.
CBU opened Saturday with the three-goal win over the Bulldogs, the second-ranked team in NCAA Division III. CBU received 17 saves and a steal from goalie Joseph Moorman, while Brent Teraoka tallied a hat trick for the third game in a row, along with an assist.
Teddy Forte scored twice and added two assists, while Tanner Shore's all-around game included three forced turnovers, two drawn ejections, a goal and assist. Dominick Nevarez also scored twice in the game.
The Lancers did not lose a single quarter against Redlands, taking the first quarter on a 4-3 score. The Lancers increased their lead to two, 7-5, by halftime and upped it to 10-7 after three frames and maintained that three-goal advantage in the end.
CBU dominated McKendree to the tune of an 11-0 lead at halftime. Teraoka scored another hat trick against McKendree, while Thomas Henline, Caleb Rogers, Luke Schuler and Nevarez all scored twice. Shore added a goal, two assists and three steals in the game.
