CBU improves to 12-2 overall and remains undefeated in PacWest, sitting at 4-0. The Sunbirds drop to 2-8 on the year and leave Riverside still looking for their first conference win, 0-4.
Five Lancers finished in double figures, led by Cassidy Mihalko's double-double. The senior guard scored 24 points and snagged 10 rebounds. Lexy Ram (4-for-4 in three-pointers) followed with 16 points, while Tori Mitchell and Courtney Nelson each chipped in 12 points. Olivia Weber rounded out the top scorers with 10 points on 5-for-8 shooting.
"It was a good win tonight," coach Jarrod Olson said. "We came out with great energy and great effort. Our post players in particular did a great job; it was nice to see a strong defense."
Once again, the Lancers moved the ball well, finishing with 23 assists. Kamille Diaz – who tied her career high with seven boards – dished out nine assists to lead the effort, while Emma Meriggioli finished with a career-high seven assists.
"We play for each other," Weber said. "We just keep playing and keep working."
Nelson opened the night by banking in two points off the backboard. It boosted the Lancers into the first quarter as they started to run away with the score, boasting a 28-19 lead at the end of the first.
FPU looked to comeback in the second quarter, but the Lancers took advantage of several Sunbird errors to force a timeout with just under seven minutes left in the second quarter. The Lancers maintained control of the game and walked into halftime with a 42-29 upper hand.
CBU came out in the third determined to put the game away and quickly built up a 20-point lead. That turned into a 30-point lead and eventually a 40-point lead in the fourth as the Lancers closed out the match on a shooting frenzy. In the final two and a half minutes of the game, Meriggioli and Ram knocked down three triples to secure the 102-59 victory for CBU.
The Lancers take a break from conference action as they host Saint Martin's back in Van Dyne on Monday at 5 p.m.
