RIVERSIDE, Calif. — California Baptist University closes out the 2016 portion of its season this Thursday as the No. 8 team in the nation after the new rankings came out Tuesday.
The Lancers host Life Pacific on December 29 at 7:00 p.m., hoping to pick back up where they left off. CBU is on a two-game winning streak after beating Fresno Pacific and Cal State San Marcos before Christmas.
CBU currently ranks in multiple statistical categories in the NCAA, including fifth in free-throw percentage (79.4), 27th in scoring margin (14.4) and 62nd in scoring offense (83.8 points per game).
Michael Smith leads the charge for the Lancers, averaging 24.5 ppg. It puts him fifth overall in all of NCAA Division II. Kalidou Diouf leads the nation in field-goal percentage, boasting an impressive 73.5-percent from the field.
CBU heads to Hawai'i after New Year's for its first major road trip of the season. The Lancers take on Hawai'i Pacific on Jan. 3 and Chaminade on Jan. 5.
