RIVERSIDE, Calif. — California Baptist University women's golf will challenge some of the top-ranked teams in NCAA Division II as it hosts the CBU Invitational Monday to Tuesday.
With 18 teams set to participate in the Invitational, CBU will look to defend its home course -- Eagle Glen Golf Club in Corona, Calif. Of the 18 teams in attendance, three are ranked in the top 20 of NCAA Division II. It begins with a shotgun start Monday at 8 a.m.
CBU comes in as the highest ranked team at No. 15, followed by Point Loma at No. 16 and No. 21 Academy of Art. Coming off the PLNU Super San Diego Championship, where they placed second behind the host Sea Lions, the Lancers will look to exact revenge on their PacWest foe.
The tournament hosts 14 Division II schools, as well as four NAIA teams and eight individuals playing in the tournament. Among those eight individuals, three are Lancer golfers which gives head coach John Hackney a chance to see all of his players compete in a tournament setting.
