INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Josh Hanson came into the NCAA Division II Championships, his final collegiate meet, wanting to go out with a bang for California Baptist University.
Two more All-American performances at Indiana University's Natatorium on Friday certainly helped that pursuit. Hanson, a senior, now has produced four All-American swims at nationals this year, with all of them being top-eight times. The two most recent ones came in the 200-yard butterfly and 800-freestyle relay for the Ridgecrest native.
Overall, the Lancers had four All-American performances Friday. It moved them up to 12th place, with 120.5 points, with one more day to go Saturday.
Hanson had CBU's best finish of the day when he took seventh in the 200 fly in one minute, 47.98 seconds. It was also the event where the Lancers showed their most depth, as Jean Pierre Monteagudo earned an All-American mark by taking 11th in 1:48.38.
In the final event of the day, the 800-free relay, CBU put together a top-eight finish. Hanson teamed with Alexis Ohmar, Bernardo Gonzalez Valentim and Tanner Shore to clock in at 6:34.63.
Robert Griffith was the other All-American Lancer Friday. He took 12th in the 500 free, touching the wall in 4:28.68. Elijah Barrows and Shore also swam the event and finished 28th and 29th in 500 free in 4:35.40 and 4:37.82, respectively.
