SAN MARCOS, Calif. — California Baptist University was off to the races Saturday afternoon at the Mangrum Invitational, hosted by Cal State San Marcos.
It was a great day for the Lancers – who all competed in the 3,000-meter race – as the men saw an individual champion in William Ernst and the women saw Emeline Delanis set a new school record.
In the women's race, Delanis took second overall with a time of nine minutes, 57.84 seconds, just three seconds behind first place and her personal-best time.
CBU had seven runners in the top-10, with Kim Rabenstein taking third in 10:04.67 and Katie Deimling just on her tail in fourth with a time of 10:04.72. Both times were good for new personal records for the pair.
Berenice Cleyet-Merle joined the PR-train and took sixth in 10:12.04. Caroline Barkechir (10:15.56), Claire Rainey (10:16.35) and Kate Robinson (10:17.47) rounded out the top-10 in spots eight through 10.
Tori Dutchover and Michaela Pulliam each ran their personal bests, clocking in in 10:23.06 and 10:44.26, respectively.
On the men's side, Ernst ran a strong race and took first in 8:31.82, beating out the competition by more than six seconds.
