SAN FRANCISCO — No. 5-ranked California Baptist University kept its trend of breaking records going Friday at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, with two Lancers setting new school records.
Kate Robinson kicked things off with a record-breaking performance in the 10K, clocking in at 35 minutes, 37.28 seconds. It was good for sixth place overall, but the best time by a Division II athlete and a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA DII Track Championship Meet at the end of May.
Micaela Pulliam took 23rd in the event, shaving 48 seconds off her personal-best time to finish with a time of 37:24.88.
Katie Deimling broke her own CBU record in the 3,000m steeplechase by 10 seconds, finishing in sixth place with a provisionally qualifying time of 10:35.38. Claire Rainey and Emeline Delanis also grabbed provisional marks, crossing the finish line in personal-best times of 10:50.25 and 10:50.30, respectively. Charlie Davidson grabbed a personal-best time of 11:08.79 in the event.
Fruzsi Ladanyi, who already has a provisional mark, improved her chances of punching her ticket to nationals by finishing the 1500m race in 4:31.00, more than two seconds faster than her previous best.
At the Stanford Invitational, Berenice Cleyet-Merle took second in her heat in the 800-meter race, clocking in at 4:27.75 (provisional mark), just four seconds off her CBU record of 4:23.24 that she set last year.
A few Lancers head to La Jolla for the UCSD California Collegiate Challenge Saturday.
