After seniors from all 20 Lancer athletic teams were recognized, Michael Smith and Jacob Waste were named CBU's Male Outstanding Co-Athletes of the Year, while Cassidy Mihalko picked up the Female Outstanding Athlete of the Year. Joseph Moorman and Jenna Perry were also named the Scholar Athletes of the Year.
Fabiola Zanella da Silva (women's soccer), Aaron Steiger (men's water polo), Steve Goins (baseball), Angela Willis (women's volleyball) and Blair Penner (men's volleyball) were each inducted into the CBU Hall of Fame after stellar careers as Lancers. With these five, CBU's Hall of Fame is now home to 70 legendary Lancers. Outstanding Athlete of the Year Cassidy Mihalko with CBU President Dr. Ronald Ellis and Director of Athletics Dr. Micah Parker
Da Silva was a big part in CBU women's soccer success in the NAIA era, dominating the midfield for the Lancers from 2008-11. She was a three-time NAIA All-American and four-time all-conference player. Her senior year, she helped CBU claim its first NCCAA championship after winning the PacWest title earlier that year.
Over her career, da Silva ranks third all-time in games played with 84, fourth with 227 career shots, five multi-assist games and eight games with a goal and assist. She also sits fifth with 103 career points and seventh after scoring 37 times in her career. In single-season history, da Silva ranks sixth with 78 shots, and 10th with 10 assists, along with 36 points.
Steiger set some records that will be hard for any men's water polo player to ever break. The driver scored 400 goals in his career to lead the runner-up in that category by 97, while his 334 steals are 197 more than any other Lancer. The 2010 graduate also holds the record for games with a goal, assist and steal at 42 and his 110 multi-goal and 89 multi-steal games are both program-bests, while he also ranks seventh in assists, with 100. Steiger was voted a three-time AWPCA All-American and earned a total of seven All-Academic honors in his career.
It's a similar story in the single-season rankings, as he ranks first and second in goals, steals and multi-goal games in a single season and also holds the record for multi-steal games. Steiger set a records for consecutive games with a goal and steal at 38 and 31, respectively. When it comes to single-game records, he is well-represented there, as well. He forced a single-game record 10 steals in one game and ranks third in goals scored in a single game, as he scored seven times in two games.

It's rare to have a two-way player come along, like Goins did for CBU. The second baseman and starting pitcher ranks highly in many different categories in the program's record books. On the mound, Goins' 295 strikeouts still him rank first even about a decade later, while his 26 wins, 10 complete games and 300.2 innings pitched are second all time. His 59 appearances are fifth overall, while his 3.17 ERA is 11th. At the plate, he ranks second with 62 doubles, third with 272 hits and 769 at-bats, fourth with 374 total bases and ninth in RBIs, with 137 runs.
With all those impressive numbers, Goins reaped plenty of awards, including four All-Golden State Athletic Conference awards, a Gold Glove from the conference and two All-Region/District accolades. Like many of these Hall of Famers, Goins was a two-time Scholar Athlete in the GSAC and NAIA.
From 2005 to 2007, with Willis on the roster, the Lancers enjoyed three 30-plus win seasons, won an NAIA championship and qualified for the national semifinals each year and finished second in the NAIA, as well. Willis was crucial to the team's success, earning NAIA All-Tournament Team honors.
To this day, Willis remains a top-10 force in CBU's career record books. Her .335 attack percentage ranks fourth all time, while her 134 aces are sixth and 260 blocks put her ninth in Lancer lore. The middle blocker earned All-American and All-Golden State Athletic Conference honors twice each. Willis was a standout student-athlete, as well, earning Scholar-Athlete awards twice from the NAIA and GSAC in her career. Penner currently helps coach for the Lancers' women's volleyball team, but six seasons ago he played here and established himself as the best setter to come through the Van Dyne Gym. The Lancers won two national championships in 2010 and 2011, with his teams never finishing outside of the top-two in the NAIA during his career from 2008-11.
His ridiculous numbers still stand today, as well. He still ranks first in two major stats in CBU's career record books. His 416 sets played are No. 1, along with his 4,065 assists, while his career 9.77 assists per set average rank third overall.
As far as single-season rankings, he ranks first and second in assists, with 1,524 and 1,423. He is also No. 1 for aces in a season, with 71, and second in assists per set, with 12.92. Penner is also responsible for single-match records in assists and aces, with 81 and 13, respectively. Along the way, Penner was named the 2010 NAIA Player of the Year, a two-time NAIA All-American and twice made the NAIA All-Invitational Team.
