Lancers Prepare for Joust
2/25/2018 10:00:00 AM | Women's Golf
JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. – It may have a new name but California Baptist University will look to produce the same result it's had the last three years at its one home event of the season on Monday and Tuesday.
CBU hosts the two-round, 36-hole Lancer Joust on Monday and Tuesday at the Goose Creek Golf Club in Jurupa Valley, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on both days. Live scoring will be made available throughout the Joust at GolfStat.com.
Eighteen teams make up the field, with four top-25 ranked teams: No. 7 Tarleton State, 22nd-ranked Cal State San Marcos, No. 26 CBU and No. 27 Cal State Monterey Bay in the 18-team field.
The Lancers are looking to win the event – previously named the CBU Women's Invitational – for the third year in a row and for the fourth time in five years. Academy of Art was the last visiting team to win the CBU tournament in 2015.
This season, CBU has three top-three finishes, including a runner-up performance at the 2018 PLNU Reach Tournament last time out (Feb. 5-6) and a win at the Western Washington Invite in October.
Yifei "Sunny" Wang, Eric Wang, Kristyna Abrahamova, Sharon Oh and Samantha Martirez are in CBU's lineup this week after all five secured top-10 finishes at the PLNU Reach. Jordan Martin and Jocelyn Chee will compete as individuals this week for the Lancers.
This will be the 10th year in a row CBU has hosted a tournament, although locations (from golf course to states) have ranged over the seasons. Here's a look back at previous tournament champions, both teams and individuals over that span:
