
Lancers Claim More Provisionals

AZUSA, Calif. — In the second day of the Bryan Clay Invitational, California Baptist University finished strong and saw more personal-best times.
In the second heat of night on the women's side for the 1500 meter-run, Berenice Cleyet-Merle, finished 56th out of 282 athletes with a time of four minutes, 27.36 seconds – just five seconds off an NCAA Division II automatic qualifying mark.
Leanda du Bruyn wasn't far off Cleyet-Merle's time, finishing the 1500m in a time of 4:30.42, while Emeline Delanis, who hit an automatic qualifying mark for the 5K yesterday, clocked in at 4:32.57. Fruzsi Ladanyi followed with a time of 4:33.04, giving all four runners NCAA Division II provisional marks.
Natalia Novak finished one second off her previous best time, crossing the finish line in 4:37.07. Tori Dutchover clocked in at 4:45.88, while Morgan Spurlock closed out the night for the Lancers in 4:54.10, a new career-best.
CBU has one week to prepare before heading to Fresno, Calif., for the PacWest Championship Meet on April 27 and 28.
