CHARLOTTE, N.C. — To cap off the NCAA Division II year for California Baptist University, Emeline Delanis grabbed a top-four placing in the 5K championship Saturday evening.
The junior Frenchwoman took fourth overall in a time of 16 minutes, 39.58 seconds to earn a spot on the podium and All-American honors. From the get-go, Delanis was toward the front, staying in the top-eight for the first few laps, before finishing with the top-four pack.
Cal State San Marcos had a runner right on Delanis' tail heading into the final 200-meters, but Delanis put in her kick to beat her by over four seconds and hold onto fourth place.
The Lancers now transition to NCAA Division I and the Western Athletic Conference in the fall.
