Lancers Enter West Region Top-15

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the latest NCAA Division I Women's Regional Rankings on Monday morning, putting California Baptist University in the mix for the first time.
The Lancers rank 14th in the West Region as a result of a strong NCAA Division I debut. They are the only Western Athletic Conference (WAC) team to be ranked in the region's top-15 and one of three WAC teams to be given a top-15 regional ranking – Utah Valley sits No. 13 in the Mountain Region and UT Rio Grande Valley sits No. 14 in the South Central Region.
Unranked in the pre-season poll, CBU placed four runners in the top-15 at the Mark Covert Invitational for a second-place finish behind newly-ranked Cal Poly (No. 13 in the West Region). That performance earned the Lancers their first top-15 West Region ranking in the Division I era.
CBU returns to action this Saturday at the UC Riverside Invitational. Also competing at the meet is fellow West Region top-15 member Sacramento State (No. 15).
