
78 Lancers Earn Academic All-WAC Honors

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A total of 78 California Baptist University student-athletes earned Academic All-Western Athletic Conference honors when the league released its distinguished list of spring 2018-19 honorees, as well as freshmen and transfer honorees for fall and winter sports.
To be eligible for Academic All-WAC Honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year at CBU, have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests. A total of 132 Lancers earned WAC All-Academic recognition in 2018-19.
Baseball and women's track both had 11 student-athletes honored, followed by softball which had 10, men's track had seven honorees, while women's and men's golf had five and four, respectively.
Travis Booth, Jeff Bruyntjens, Chris Burica, Chad Castillo, Angel Delgado, Matt Mogollon, Ryan Mota, Nick Plaia, Bryan Pope, Billy Rockefeller, and Rory Smith were baseball's Academic All-WAC honorees.
Mary Andrews, Anna Bartlett, Chloe Beedy, Amelia Czerwinska, Karolina Iznerowicz, Allison Janes, Fruzsi Ladanyi, Anna Mate, Natalia Novak, Emilie Renaud, and Anett Somogyi made the grade for women's track.
Softball's Deanna Alarcon, Shelby Arbeiter, Amanda Argomaniz, Mackenzie Budinger, Brittany Galvez, Molly Kolander, Caitlyn Lloyd, Giana Lopez, Sophia Perea, and Makenna Stram all earned recognition. Mike Alukunyang, Simon Bedard, Jacob Boatman, Mason Dowell, Michael Lowrie, Dennis Messmer and Jonah Ross of men's track were all recognized for their performance in the classroom.
Kristyna Abrahamova, Jocelyn Chee, Samantha Martirez, Erica Wang and Yifei Wang were the women's golf honorees, with men's golf's Ben Hallam, John Hayes, Harrison Kingsley, and Ryan Monsalve being honored.
With the conclusion of the academic year, freshmen and transfers from fall and winter sports were honored, too. An additional 15 CBU swimmers/divers earned academic all-conference honors, while the men's and women's soccer teams, as well as cross country each, had five honorees. Volleyball and women's basketball both had two more student-athletes named Academic All-WAC, while men's basketball had one added.
Mallory Brubaker, Alina Jungklaus, McKenzie Kelly, Emma Lindquist, Kiree Lowe, Alexa Melara, Jordyn Nelson, Sierra Trichler and Madeline Weise added their names to the Academic All-WAC list for women's swim/dive, with Robert Moseley, Thomas Pipkin, Mathias Scarano, Tyler Stevens, Dylan Sweikert, Adityastha Wratsangka doing likewise for men's swim/dive.
Oliver Bryneus, Nick Forrester, Niklas Haakenstad, Jordan Lane and Linus Månsson were the men's soccer representatives. Brodi Blomdahl, Erin Gallagher, Juliette Mollenauer-Brown, Jordan Padgett and Elisa Soderholm qualified for women's soccer.
From cross country, Mary Andrews, Karolina Iznerowicz, Anna Mate and Emilie Renaud represented the women's team, while Mason Dowell represented the men.
Volleyball's Summer Avery and Ellie Voss were named Academic All-WAC, as well as Tiena Afu and Caitlyn Harper of women's basketball, and Glenn Morison of men's basketball.
