
Smith Named LNBP Player of the Week

RIVERSIDE --- Michael Smith continues to make a name for himself as one of the best players in the Mexican Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP) league, earning the LNBP Player of the Week award.
Smith, a business administration graduate from California Baptist University in 2017, is in his second season in the LNBP. He was named the LNBP Player of the Week award for round two after scoring a game-high 29 points, nine rebounds, and three assists for Abejas in his team's victory. He is currently fifth-best in league with 23.0 points per game and averages 70 percent shooting from the field.
Smith graduated from CBU as the all-time leading scorer in the men's basketball program with 2,031 career points. He was also named a two-time PacWest Player of the Year, a D-II West Region Player of the Year, a top-10 finalist for the Bevo Francis Award, a six-time All-American honoree, and the PacWest Tournament MVP. He ended his career with a 104-23 overall record, making the playoffs all four years as a Lancer.
