Lancers in Sixth After Day Two of Aggie Invitational

LAS CRUCES --- California Baptist University closed out the second round of the NM State Aggie Invitational on Tuesday, as the Lancers shot a 14-over-par 302 team score to sit in sixth place.
The Lancers finished Tuesday's round three strokes better than the opening 305 team score they shot on Monday. CBU moved to sixth out of the 17-team field as the leaderboard was shaken up quite a bit on moving day.
New Mexico State put together a 7-under-par 281 team score on its home course to take the lead with a 577 total. Northern Arizona is in second with a 596 team score, while UTEP and South Dakota State sit in a tie for third with a 600 team score. CBU is only seven strokes off the podium.
CBU was led by Kristyna Abrahamova during the second round, as the senior fired off a 1-over-par 73 to combine for a 5-over-par 149 after 36 holes. Her 1-over-par score moved her up two spots, and she is currently in a tie for 13th.
Sofia Chabon is in a tie for 15th after improving upon her first-round 76 with a 2-over-par 74. Chabon is tied with eight other players in the field with a 6-over-par 150.
Samantha Martirez put together back-to-back 77's to tie with teammate Jocelyn Chee at 40th. The pair holds a 10-over-par 154 total. Diana Araneta made the biggest move up the leaderboard by seven spots, shooting a 6-over-par 78 to combine for a 160 and take T-70th.
Audrey Haddad of UTEP was able to break away from the four-way tie in Monday's round, signing a 1-under-par 71 to hold a one-stroke lead over the field.
The Lancers will finish the final round of the NM State Aggie Invitational on Wednesday, Oct. 9, with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. (PST).
