
CBU Scores Big at UNLV Invite

Sean Foster had a hand in both wins on Monday at the Jim Reitz Pool. The junior claimed an individual victory in the 100-yard breaststroke and a team win in the 200-medley relay with Jacob Leahy, Josh Walters and Matthew Niculae.

Foster won the 100 breast in 55.32 seconds, and nearly helped set a new Lancer record with a time of 1:27.72 in the 200-medley relay. It was just .07 of a second of the program-best of 1:27.65 set last season.
Joe Molinari continued to make a big impact in just his second day of competition for the Lancers. The junior transfer from Arizona State clocked two more top-10 times in CBU history. He took second place in the 400 individual medley in 3:55.98, which ranks seventh in program history, and took third place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 49.63 that ranks ninth.

Josh Walters added CBU's other runner-up finish just in front of Molinari in the 100 back (49.49), while Robert Moseley was just behind Molinari in the 400 IM to take third place in 3:57.59, which ranks eighth in CBU history.

The Lancers' eighth top-three swim was a team effort, as Niculae, Molinari, Moseley and Leahy took third in the 800-free relay in a new season best of 6:44.27 for CBU. Niculae (fourth, 1:40.32) and Moseley (fifth, 50.39) added top-five swims for the Lancers in the 200 free and 100 back, respectively.
Evan Honer, Tyler Stevens and Zane Freeman all turned in great performances on the 3-meter board Monday. Honer took third with a 274.90 points, while Stevens (269.85) and Freeman (233.80) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. All three were even better in prelims, with Honer scoring a 294.30, Stevens a 279.10 and Freeman a 251.90.
Seven top-16 finishers made the 400 IM the most productive of the day for CBU. Adityastha Wratsangka took seventh (4:06.84), while Christian Meyer (12th, 4:08.77); Sakeri Holter (13th, 4:09.47); Trevor Van Law (14th, 4:18.64) and Aiden Hobson (15th, 4:21.42) packed together in the consolation final.
Five more Lancers took up top-16 spots in the 100 butterfly, led by Leahy (49.1) and David Miller (50.04) in sixth and eighth place. Quinn Birtles (12th, 49.96); Elijah Devera (14th, 50.73) and Wratsangka (15th, 51.16) all took top-15 spots.
CBU placed four more swimmers in the top-13 of the 100 back: Leahy (seventh, 50.63); Niculae (10th, 50.72); Trent Itow (12th, 51.43) and Van Law (13th, 52.25). Babcock (eighth, 1:44.53); Payton Thomas (13th, 1:43.57) and Kyle White (15th, 1:44.77) also scored in the 200 free for CBU. The Lancers added three more scorers in the 100 breast: Babcock (10th, 57.83); Holter (14th, 1:00.83) and Meyer (15th, 1:02.00).
