CBU Ends Regular Season with Roadrunners

RESULTS
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Daxton Gordon and Zach Schrader picked up hard-fought wins in California Baptist University's regular-season finale, a dual with CSU Bakersfield on Saturday.
The Roadrunners of the Pac-12 Conference, who have two top-30 ranked wrestlers, pulled out the 38-6 victory, with the help of two forfeits and several close matches. The Lancers will end the season at the 11th annual National Collegiate Open in Delaware on March 2.
Gordon started the dual at 149 pounds for CBU, with an 8-2 decision victory. He scored the first five points of the match, with a first-period takedown and then an escape and a takedown in the second.

A third-period takedown and more than two-and-a-half minutes of riding time secured Gordon's impressive win.

Jacob Cooper (5-3) and Bryce Buckley (7-5) came up just short in two-point losses at 165 and 174, respectively, for the Lancers.

Schrader took control of his heavyweight match immediately with a first-period takedown.

His opponent managed to tie things up with a pair of escapes, but a last-second takedown in the second period gave Schrader a ton of momentum. He built on is with two more takedowns in the third period to secure the 8-4 decision. With the win, CSUB improved to 7-9 on the year, while CBU ended its dual season at 2-6.Â
