Lancers Among Best in the West

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – With the outdoor track season well underway, California Baptist University has multiple runners who are ranked in the top-100 in the West Region.
Anett Somogyi, the reigning WAC Cross Country Champion, ranks 24th in the West Region in both the 5,000 (16:26.78) and 10,000 meter (34:06.91). Somogyi's times would have her at 49th and 38th in the nation for the 5,000 and 10,000 meter, respectively. Somogyi holds the school record in the 10,000 meter and sits in second place for the 5,000 meter.
Anna Mate ranks 37th in the West Region in the 10,000 meter (35:02.21) and 59th in the 5,000 meter (16:56.91). Mate's 10,000 meter time ranks second in the CBU record books.
Simon Bedard has lead the way for the men, as he sits at 38th for the 5,000 meter (14:26.69) and 57th for the 10,000 meter (29:57.86) in the West Region.
Zlatko Kozuhar is also regionally ranked in two events. Kozuhar holds 73rd in the 10,000 meter (30:35.98) and 87th in the 5,000 meter (14:43.89).
Emilie Renaud would rank 25th in the nation in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (10:24.16). That time puts Renaud at 16th in the West Region.
Linda Palumbo sits at 48th in the West Region for the steeplechase (10:46.41), and Karolina Iznerowicz is 49th in the 10,000 meter (35:49.84).
Timothy Legemet sits at the 45th spot in the 5,000 meter (14:30.39), and Dennis Messmer is 88th in the 5,000 meter (14:44.40)
In 10,000 meter competition Hector Peralta holds the 88th spot (30:59.63) and McMarshall Hartzenburg is 89th (31:00.32).
Both Lancer teams will be competing at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational this Saturday, April 6th.
