Zimmerer, Marks Named All-Tournament

HAMMOND, La. – Natalie Zimmerer and Sydney Marks both earned All-Tournament Team honors at the conclusion of the Southeastern Louisiana Lion Up Classic.
California Baptist University went 2-1 at the tournament, with wins over Jackson State and Southeastern Louisiana, with big contributions from Zimmerer and Marks.
Zimmerer logged 97 assists (9.70 a set), 28 digs (2.80), 12 kills and three aces over three matches. The senior setter finished with a season-high 47 assists, 12 digs and a career-high six kills against SLU. She had her second double-double of the week with 27 assists and 11 digs against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Marks ranked second on the team with 33 kills (3.30) on the week. She also had 24 digs (2.40) and two blocks. She had at least seven kills in every match and a career-high 19, with six digs, on a .405 percentage versus SLU.
The junior balanced offense with defense, with seven digs against Jackson State and 11 more on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The Lancers (3-6) will head to the Nevada Tournament next weekend where they will face Gonzaga and Southern Utah on Friday at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., respectively, and Nevada on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CBU will then make its home debut versus Saint Katherine on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Van Dyne Gym.
