RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Christine Graf was named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for California Baptist University on Monday.
It is the first-ever weekly WAC award for the true freshman, while it's the third for the Lancers in their two-year membership in the conference. Graf led CBU to a 2-1 week at the Nevada Tournament and earned all-tournament honors in the process.
Graf totaled 22 kills for a 3.75 set average on a .343 hitting percentage. She had 11 or more kills in every match and hit .458 or above twice. She had a career-high 22 kills on .541 hitting in just three sets against Southern Utah. It tied CBU's NCAA-era record for kills in a three-set match and most kills in a match by a true freshman.
The Lancers will make their long-awaited home debut with a non-conference match against Saint Katherine on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Van Dyne Gym. CBU will then begin Western Athletic Conference play with road matches at Kansas City and Chicago State on Saturday and Monday, Sept. 30.
