Lancers In Podium Position After Day One

ST. GEORGE --- California Baptist University women's golf team finished the first two rounds of the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational on Thursday, as the Lancers sit in third out of 15 teams.
South Dakota State went into the clubhouse as the day one leader with a 2-over-par 286-292=578. They hold a firm grasp atop the leaderboard, with Oral Roberts edging the Lancers by two strokes with a 24-over-par 291-309=600. The Lancers opened up the two-day event with a 26-over-par 297-305=602. CBU holds a three-stroke advantage over fourth-place Illinois State.
Hailey Loh holds a top-five spot after the first day, firing a 74-73=147. Samantha Martirez, Sofia Chabon, and Jocelyn Chee all finished inside the top 15 for the Lancers. Martirez signed a 75-76=151 to place T-12th, while Chabon and Chee shot a 151 and are tied together at 15th. Haruka Shintani is currently T-53rd with a 159.
Teresa Toscano of South Dakota State is the individual leader after producing two rounds in the 60's. Toscano shot a 64-67=131 for a 13-under-par. She holds a 13 stroke lead over the field.
The Lancers will tee off at 7 a.m. (PST) for the final round of the tournament.
