RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University is currently leading the 2020-21 Western Athletic Conference Commissioner's Cup Standings, as we've reached the halfway point through this season.
CBU currently has 25 points with conference championships in men's and women's cross country and women's basketball. Grand Canyon is right behind the Lancers in second with 24.5 points, while Utah Valley is in third with 21.5 points. NM State is in fourth (16.5), UT Rio Grande Valley is in fifth (7), Seattle U is in sixth (6.5), Dixie State is in seventh (5), Tarleton State is in eighth (4), and Chicago State is in ninth (1).
The CBU Athletics Department is off to an incredible start, claiming six outright conference championships thus far during the 2020-21 academic year. Nationally, CBU and Texas are tied with the most league titles to date.

The Commissioner's Cup is awarded to the institution with the most points at the end of the academic year. Schools count its top-15 finishes out of a possible 17 WAC-sponsored sports this year. Points are awarded in order of finish in each sport with six points to the winner, five for second, four for third, three for fourth, two for fifth, and one point to all teams that finish sixth or worse. An institution that does not sponsor a specific sport does not receive any points. Only the regular season is counted for the sports of soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis, softball, and baseball. For the sports of cross country, indoor track & field, swimming & diving, golf, and outdoor track & field, points are determined using the WAC's championship results using the 6-point per sport scoring system. Affiliates will be used as a placeholder in the standings or championship results but are not scored in the overall Commissioner's Cup standings. Any team that competes in a sport with regular-season standings that earns an NCAA AQ from a WAC Championship is also awarded one additional point.
Women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, softball, outdoor men's and women's track & field, and baseball are all left up for grabs. The Lancers are currently leading the conference in women's soccer and baseball.
Utah Valley claimed the cup in the 2019-20 season for its first time in the school's history. Boise State, Fresno State, and active member NM State are all tied for the most Commissioner's Cups with three. Grand Canyon won in back-to-back years in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
