Loh and Martirez Lead Lancers At WAC Championship

BOULDER CITY --- California Baptist University opened the first round of the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Monday, as Hailey Loh and Samantha Martirez posted top-15 scores.
Loh and Martirez finished with a 3-over-par 75 to place T-13th out of 43 golfers. The three-day 54-hole event is being held at Boulder Creek Golf Course, as the nine teams are on the par-72 6,395-yard course. With CBU in its third year of the transition process, the Lancers aren't eligible to post a team score in the standings.
Haruka Shintani signed a 4-over-par 76 to place T-18th, while Sofia Chabon sits at T-23rd with a 5-over-par 77 on the card. Jocelyn Chee finished her round at T-34th with an 8-over-par 80.
As for the team scores, NM State finished the first round in the lead, posting a 1-under-par 287 team score. Grand Canyon is three strokes behind NM State in second with a 2-over-par 290 team score. Seattle U and Utah Valley are both tied for third with a 9-over-par 297 team score. UT Rio Grande Valley completes the scoring for the team section in fifth with a 15-over-par 303 team score. CBU is joined by Dixie State, Tarleton, and Chicago State as the four teams competing as individuals.
Payton Fehringer of Grand Canyon leads all golfers after round one with a 3-under-par 69.
The Lancers are set to tee off at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, for the second round of competition.
