SHAWNEE --- California Baptist University's STUNT team completed the perfect season on Saturday, as the Lancers won their first-ever DI/DII STUNT National Championships after a 19-11 win over Oklahoma Baptist.
It was a historic season from start to finish, as the Lancers went a perfect 15-0 on the year to win the STUNT National Championship. To go along with the National Championship, the Lancers also claimed their first-ever West Coast Championship when they went a perfect 5-0 in conference play.
The Lancers had to face Oklahoma Baptist twice on the day as they opened the semifinals with the Bison.
The Lancers opened the game with an opening 4-2 score in the first quarter and went on to take a 7-5 lead at the break. The second half was all Lancers, as they went on to claim the 18-10 final and improve to 14-0 on the year.
Oklahoma Baptist then faced Concordia in the play-in game to see who face the Lancers in the championship game.
OBU won the game and would face the Lancers for the second time on the day.
The game started out similar to the first, as the Lancers took another 4-2 lead in the first quarter. CBU went on to take another four straight points in the second quarter, taking an 8-4 lead at the half.
The Lancers then ran away with it in the second half, taking the National Championship with a 19-11 victory.
