
154 Lancers Named to WAC Academic All-Conference Team in 2020-21

RIVERSIDE – A total of 154 California Baptist University Lancers were named to the Western Athletic Conference's Academic All-Conference Team for 2020-21 on Thursday.
It was not far off CBU's single-season record of 157 Academic All-WAC honorees from 2019-20. It ranked fourth in the conference this year and was not far off the top three: Grand Canyon (187), Seattle U (169) and Utah Valley (156), despite the Lancers only sponsoring 15 of 19 WAC sports.
In order to qualify for the honor, each student-athlete must have completed at least one full academic year at the school, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better, and have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
A total of 14 baseball players made the grade for CBU: Spencer Bengard, Chris Burica, Michael Carpentier, Chad Castillo, Connor Clift, Damon Keith, Jacob McCarvel, Drew Necochea, Garret Ostrander, Nick Plaia, Bryan Pope, Liam Rocha, Mitchel Simon, and Russell Stevenson.
Mark Carbone, Gorjok Gak, Reed Nottage and Ty Rowell gave the Lancers four honorees in men's basketball.
Ten women's basketball players qualified in Caitlyn Harper, Ane Olaeta, Sydney Palma, Taylor Wu, Nicole Avila-Ambrosi, Eliana Bravington, Georgia Dale, Brittany Klaman, Oceane Robin and Dorcas Wu.
Ivo Balabanov, McMarshal Hartzenberg, Cameron Hylton, Zlatko Kozuhar, Florian Le Pallec, Giedrius Valincius and Rikus Van Niekerk all made WAC All-Academic in men's cross country and track. Greta Karinauskaite, Anna Mate and Emilie Renaud were there in women's cross country and track, too, while Elin Brink, Rachel Gee, Paige Haynes, Fruzsi Ladanyi, Nadia Martinez and Helen Pacurariu-Nagy qualified in women's track.
Five men's golfers earned all-academic status: Ryan Fisher, John Hayes, James Mackie, Dan Heron and Jacob Smith.
Samantha Martirez, Jocelyn Chee, Diana Araneta, Sofia Chabon, Belle Balkan and Hailey Loh gave women's golf six members on the conference team.
A total of 12 men's soccer players: Brian Gonzalez, Chris Heckenberg, Jordan Lane, Uriel Mosqueda, Gage Rogers, Tete Vacas, Lincoln Aquino, Antonio Gomez, Bryan Iliohan, Leo Mendez, Liad Mordechi, and Luis Mueller qualified.
Sixteen more Lancers made the grade in women's soccer in Amy Aquino, Rola Badawiya, Gracie Bowers, Kacie Dennis, Neleah Dunlap, Erin Gallagher, Danielle Gordon, Tiana Hill, Faith Lee, Jayden Ramirez, McKenna Ray, Sophomore, Romy Salvador, Madison Sonerholm, Taylor Summit, Karley Weeks and Deniah Wells.
Softball was represented by Amanda Argomaniz, Brittany Galvez, Gretchen Goldsmith, Michaila Harrington, Molly Kolander, Giana Lopez, Katelyn Mangrello, Ashley McBay, Abby Robertson, Deja Westbrook, Mia Alvarez, Brittany Galvez, Makayla Jordan, Maile Olsen and Nicole Stark.
The 15 representatives from men's swim and dive were Colton Babcock, Evan Honer, Jacob Leahy, Senior, Robert Moseley, Matthew Niculae, Brandon Schuster, Tyler Stevens, Trevor Van Law, Josh Walters, Adityastha Wratsangka, Hunter Harbauer, Aiden Hobson, Hunter May, Christian Meyer and Cody Meyer.
Women's swim/dive's 22 qualifiers were Faith Brazil, Mallory Brubaker, Hannah Houlton, Vianka Hoyer, Alina Jungklaus, Emma Lindquist, Madison Liu, Kiree Lowe, Alexa Melara, Kylie Morrison, Martha Aguilar Ortega, Rebeca Oviedo, Isabella Rhodes, Rita Smirnova, Buse Topcu, Jenna Washburn, Madeline Wiese, Lydia Bartlett, Lillian Choi, Hunter Luna, Mia Maspers and Lauren McKenna.
Volleyball rounded out the WAC All-Academic Team with nine members: Jennifer Blessing, Cassidy Dennison, Christine Graf, Calissa Hoye, Paige Johnstone, Sydney Marks, Tesa Oaks, Hana Okuhara and Ellie Voss.
