De Nava Claims Fourth Pitcher of the Week Nod
3/30/2026 2:00:00 PM | Softball
RIVERSIDE --- Sophomore Miranda De Nava has been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season. De Nava was masterful last week, allowing only one earned run across her three lengthy outings in the circle.
De Nava extends CBU's streak of WAC weekly award winners to eight consecutive weeks. The Lancers have won a WAC weekly award every week this season, half being honored to De Nava, a Riverside native in her first season with the Lancers.
The sophomore right-hander logged 23.0 IP across three starts. She allowed two runs (one earned) on 11 hits and 22 strikeouts. She struck out at least six in each appearance, including nine in game two of Friday's doubleheader against Utah Valley.
De Nava pitched all 18 innings for the Lancers in Friday's doubleheader. She held the Wolverines to two hits in a shutout performance in game one and then trotted back to the circle for game two, a contest that stretched to the 11th inning. De Nava threw all 146 pitches of the second game, a season-high, as Utah Valley managed just two runs (one earned) across eight hits.
The Lancers won the 11-inning marathon when a pop-up down the right field line was dropped, sending the winning run across home plate.
Head coach Brandon Telesco also looked to De Nava earlier in the week when the Lancers played UC Santa Barbara in a non-conference game. De Nava tossed a perfect first inning, and after the bullpen threw the next two frames, De Nava returned to the circle to toss the next four, allowing only one hit during her time.
De Nava ended the week with a 0.30 ERA for her work across the 23.0 innings.
The Riverside native leads the Lancers this season with 128.0 IP, more than double that of any other pitcher on the squad. She sits at 12-6 through 27 appearances, adding two saves and a 2.35 ERA.
CBU will be back in action on Tuesday when CSUN visits John C. Funk Stadium in Riverside. The non-conference game is scheduled for 6 p.m. The Lancers will then welcome Utah Tech to the Inland Empire for a three-game WAC series over the weekend.
