
Women's Golf Opens Play at The Clash at Boulder Creek; Dizon in Fourth Place

Boulder City, Nev. - California Baptist University women's golf freshman Samantha Dizon fired a two-under-par 70 on Sunday to lead the Lancers in the opening round of The Clash at Bolder Creek, a three-day tournament hosted by Northern Arizona.
Dizon is tied for fourth place with Elina Saksa of Cal State Fulerton and Victoria Gailey of Nevada. The co-leaders after day one are Yvonne Vinceri of Idaho and Leah John of Nevada after shooting four-under-par. Hannah Lim of Boise State is alone in third place at three-under-par.
CBU as a team is in 10th place among the 17-team field after posting a team score of 299 (+11). Nevada leads the event after the first round with a team score of 284 (-4). The Top 5 is rounded out with UTEP (292, +4), Boise State (293, +5), Long Beach State (294, +6) along with a three-way tied for fifth place with San Francisco, Cal State Fullerton and host NAU (295, +7).
Individually, in addition to Dizon's performance, CBU's Sofia Chabon is in 33rd place after shooting 75 (+3), Hailey Loh is in 45th place with a 76 (+4), and Damini Law Ghanshyani carded a 78 (+6) to be in 62nd place to determine Sunday's team score. Haruka Shintani is in 90th place after registering an 83 (+11). Also, Esther Lee turned in a score of 80 (+8) as an individual.
The tournament remains tightly contested with only a seven stroke difference between second to 10th place. The Lancers will be looking to gain ground as Monday's second round is set to begin at 8 a.m.
