Lakewood, Wash. - Junior Hailey Loh is at the top of the leaderboard as the California Baptist University women's golf team wrapped up the first day after two rounds at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invite hosted by Seattle U at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club on Monday.
Individually, Loh is one of only nine golfers in the event to be under par at this point. She posted a three-under-par after 36 holes, collecting eight birdies during the day. Entering the final round on Tuesday, four individual golfers are at two-under while four others are at one-under.
The Lancers, as a team, are tied for 12th place at 21-over-par among the 21-team field at the event. CBU showed considerable improvement between the opening rounds as the Lancers posted a score 309 in the first round followed by a 288 for a total team score of 597.
"I'm proud of the TEAM for showing tremendous heart in round two," said CBU head coach Marc Machado. "A 21-shot improvement from round one to two is a clear sign that we didn't throw in the towel. We hit some adversity and responded very nicely."
CBU's 288 during the second round was the second-lowest single round team score to be posted over the first two rounds. Gonzaga and Weber State are currently tied for first with team scores of 580. Weber State had the lowest single-round team score on the day with a 283 during the second round.
The Lancers will resume play for the final round on Tuesday at 8 a.m. Live scoring is available here.
"We are very excited for the final round tomorrow as a TEAM and at Hailey's opportunity to sleep on the lead in a big event," add Machado.
