RIVERSIDE – The 16th-ranked California Baptist University men's water polo team jumped back into WWPA action tonight, hosting the 14th-ranked UC San Diego Tritons. A challenging game that went down to the wire eventually went the way of the visitors, who edged out the 13-11 win on Thursday night.
The result moves the Lancer season record to 12-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while the Tritons move to 7-9 overall and are still unbeaten in WWPA action at 4-0.
The Lancers got a balanced offensive effort as nine different Lancers accounted for all 11 goals. Toby Bumgardner and Joseph Griffin each netted two against UCSD. Angel Sanchez and Cameron Cullen both recorded a pair of assists. Thomas de Wit stuffed the stat sheet with a goal, an assist, and two steals.
The Lancers trailed by three at the break but rallied in the second half to dramatically tie the game at nine-all. CBU goalkeeper Tristan Felberg stopped a penalty shot, and Brodhi Bowden countered, scoring from distance.

It would remain close, level at 11-11 late, but the Tritons would manage a steal and gain momentum in the final moments to earn the win.
The annual Lancer Joust is up next for CBU. The Lancer Aquatic Center will host 13 games throughout Friday and Saturday, with the Lancers taking on five different opponents. Up first will be the Toronto Varsity Blues at 10:20 a.m.
