Elijah Griffin Wins BIG 12 Wrestler of the Week

IRVING, TX--- In the first year of playing in the BIG 12 Conference, California Baptist Wrestling got its first winner of the BIG 12 of the Week with Elijah Griffin. Griffin is a freshman from Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 125 lb weight class and is coming off of a 2-0 showing against powerhouses Iowa and Iowa State.
Griffin started the Iowa trip off by defeating the #6 ranked wrestler in the country in 4-2 decision in Ames on Saturday. He followed up that impressive performance with a 9-2 decision victory over Aidan Harris of Iowa on Sunday. Griffin recorded three takedowns, two escapes, two nearfall points and a reversal in the two matches.
Griffin is a 3x Oklahoma State Champion, 2x Cadet World Team Trials All-American, 2x Junior Freestyle Frago All-American and a former Junior Greco Fargo Champion.
Griffin improved to 3-1 on the young season and looks to continues to his dominance with a match on Friday against Utah Valley University.
