
CBU's Season Ends in Edinburgh

Nacogdoches--- The Lancers, entered their first-ever appearance in the WAC tournament as the seventh seed and battled the second-seeded Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-10, 25-17) loss in Edinburgh on Thursday afternoon. The Lancers made the tournament in the first year they were eligible following their four-year transition period.
The Lumberjacks were 23-4 on the season with an 11-3 conference record. SFA never lost at home with a perfect 14-0 record and defeated CBU in their previous meeting in Nacogdoches.
The Lancers began the opening set on a 10-5 start and had early momentum before falling 25-19 to the Lumberjacks.
Christine Graf led the team with ten kills in the game, and Leah Pease was one dig from a double-double with 14 assists and nine digs.
The Lancers finished the season 12-13 overall and 7-7 in the conference. CBU pulled off big wins over Utah Valley and UC Irvine during their season and enjoyed an impressive 7-3 home record in Van Dyne Gym. Graf led the Lancers in kills with 300 on a .294 attack percentage and made First-Team All-WAC for the first time in her career. Paige Johnstone hit the 1,000 career dig mark this season and finished the year with 326 digs and 40 service aces, leading the team. Chandler Gorman put together another fantastic season with 98 blocks and 109 kills.
The Lancers will hit the offseason and begin preparing for the 2023 season.
