CBU Splits Doubleheader at Bulldog Invite

The Lancers defeated host Redlands, 20-3, after falling to Pomona-Pitzer, 14-12, the top-ranked team in NCAA Division III. CBU moves to 4-8 this season, while the Sagehens improve to 5-9 and the Bulldogs fall to 0-4.

Kira O'Donell had another historic performance with a six-goal game in Saturday's opener against the Sagehens, while Maddie Schwegler had a hat trick in both games to lead CBU's offense. Julia Miller turned in a strong performance in her second start with eight saves and a steal on Redlands.
The Lancers will be back in action at the Tina Finali Invite at Cal Lutheran next weekend. CBU opens with games against Long Island and Chapman on Friday, Feb. 25 and wraps things up against CLU and CSU Monterey bay on Saturday, Feb. 26.
CBU scored the first eight goals of the game as part of an opening 10-1 run against Redlands. Schwegler, Cayleigh Carter and Dora Lehoczky scored two of those goals.
The Lancers notched the first four goals of the second half, too, thanks to consecutive goals from Nicole Rhoads and single scores from Kinga Wisniewska and Gabrielle Aguilar. CBU ended the game on a 6-0 run, with Anielysa Mena scoring twice in that span, along with Lehoczky, Lahela Rosario, Melissa Quon and Elisabeth Cruz.
Schwegler and Lehoczky each had hat tricks in the game, while Carter, Mena, Jamie Hutton and Rhoads all had a pair.

O'Donell continued her dominant season with a six-goal game against Pomona-Pitzer after scoring hat tricks in both the first and second halves. She also had three drawn ejections, a steal and assist in the game. It is the fifth sixth goal game of her career, second this season one off CBU's single-game record.
Along with the hat trick, Schwegler had three field blocks and a steal in the loss to the Sagehens. Melinna Galbraith, Lehoczky and Hutton scored the other goals for CBU. Hutton added two field blocks and two assists, while Kyndall Burrell also had four assists.
