
Lancers Move Up Leaderboard After Day Two At Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE --- California Baptist University jumped up one spot during the second round at the Rio Verde Invitational on Saturday, as the Lancers sit in third out of 18 teams.
The three-day tournament is being held at the Rio Verde Country Club in Arizona. The 18-team field traveled in from all over the country to take on the three rounds of 18 holes.
During the second round, Kennesaw State continued its impressive play and held on from its day one lead with an 8-over-par team score. The Owls holds a three-stroke advantage over the field with a 6-over-par 582 team score. Xavier stayed put in second place and gained some ground on the Owls after a second-round 6-over-par 294 team score for a 9-over-par 585 total. California Baptist moved ahead of Missouri State to take third after firing a 12-over-par 300 team score to finish day two with a 21-over-par 597 team score. The Lancers hold a four-stroke advantage over the next closest team.
Senior Jocelyn Chee remained consistent during the second round, mirroring her first round with another even-par 72 on the day. Chee moved up two spots to T-4th and is five strokes off the leader. She finished her last nine holes at 2-under-par.
Sofia Chabon joined Chee up the leaderboard, moving up seven spots to T-11th after carding a 2-over-par 74 for a 5-over-par 149 total. Hailey Loh is one stroke off Chabon and sits at T-19th with a six-over-par 150. Esther Lee finished her day at T-37th with a 10-over-par 154, while Haruka Shintani recorded a 12-over-par 156 and is T-43rd.
Caitlyn Campbell of Kennesaw State claimed the lead after the second day with an even-par 72 and went into the clubhouse with a 5-under-par 139 total.
The Lancers will make one final run up the leaderboard during the final round on Sunday, Feb. 27, with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. (PST).
