
Lancers Claim Podium Finish At Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE --- California Baptist University women's golf claimed a podium spot during the final round at the Rio Verde Invitational on Sunday, as the Lancers finished in third out of 18 teams.
The three-day tournament was held at the Rio Verde Country Club in Arizona. The 18-team field traveled in from all over the country to take on the three rounds of 18 holes.
Kennesaw State went wire-to-wire to win the team championship with a 1-over-par 865 team sore. Xavier finished in second with a 13-over-par 877 team score, while California Baptist claimed third with a 29-over-par 893 team score. The Lancers finished five strokes over the next closest team for the podium spot.
Senior Jocelyn Chee finished all three rounds as the top performer for the Lancers, as she closed out the day with a 2-over-par 218 to place T-5th. With the first two rounds of even-par, Chee took over the all-time record for most rounds with a par-or-better score with 26 total rounds with a par-or-better score in her career.
Sofia Chabon finished with a top-10 spot to take T-10th with a 5-over-par 221 total. Hailey Loh recorded an 11-over-par 227 to take T-23rd, while Haruka Shintani jumped 13 spots to finish T-30th with a 13-over-par 229. Esther Lee carded a 15-over-par 231 to place T-40th.
Caitlyn Campbell of Kennesaw State won the event with a 5-under-par 211 total after an even-par 72 during the final round.
The Lancers are headed to Hawaii next, as they will take on the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on March 7-8.
