
Lancers Close Out Final Round At The Valley Invitational

BAKERSFIELD --- California Baptist University closed out The Valley Invitational on Tuesday, as the Lancers finished in eighth out of 12 teams.
San Francisco held on to take the team championship with a 31-over-par 895. Grand Canyon finished in second with a 36-over-par, and Cal Poly jumped Cal State Fullerton to take third with a 43-over-par 907.
CBU produced its second-lowest score of the two-day tournament with a 22-over-par 310 to finish in eighth ahead of UC Irvine, UC Davis, Utah Valley, and CSU Bakersfield.
Jocelyn Chee continued to move up the leaderboard on the final day, recording a 2-over-par 74 to finish T-14th with a 12-over-par 80-74-74=228. Sofia Chabon finished her three rounds at T-21st with a 16-over-par 232, while Haruka Shintani took T-35th with a 20-over-par 236.
Esther Lee signed her best 18-hole score with an 8-over-par 80 to move up four spots to tie with teammate Hailey Loh at T-52nd. Filipa Capelo and Belle Balkan competed as individuals for the Lancers, as they finished T-56th and T-67th, respectively.
Elizabeth Scholtes of Cal Poly won the 54-hole with a 1-over-par 72-72-73=217.
The Lancers are back in action on Feb. 25-27 in a first-time event at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational in Rio Verde, Arizona.
