
Top-Seeded Lancers Advance To Championship Game At DI/DII STUNT National Championship

SAN ANTONIO --- For the second straight season, California Baptist University's STUNT team will head to the championship game at the DI/DII STUNT National Championship to defend its title.
The Lancers continued their winning ways on Saturday with a 21-1 victory over Maryville in the second round and a 19-2 victory over Oklahoma Baptist in the semifinal game. The Lancers improve to 18-0 on the season and extend the program's winning streak to 33-straight games.
California Baptist entered the DI/DII National Championship as the No. 1 seed and earned a bye to face Maryville in the second round of the National Championship.
The Lancers jumped out a 4-0 lead in the opening quarter, as they won all four rounds of partner stunts. The Lancers grabbed all four points in the second quarter to maintain an 8-0 lead at the break.
The Lancers remained perfect in the final two quarters, running away with the game, producing their 12th victory while achieving the maximum points.
Both Jordan Bruce and Vanessa Copeland were the highest-rated players for the Lancers with 55 points.
In the semifinal game, the Lancers faced the No. 2 seed Bison from Oklahoma Baptist. The 19-2 victory over the Bison extended the Lancers' all-time series lead to 5-0.
CBU remained in control of the game from start to finish, taking an early 7-1 lead in the first half. The Lancers kept the momentum going in the second half, taking an 11-1 lead after the third quarter before securing the 19-2 victory in the fourth.
Madison Murray was the highest-rated player for the Lancers with 54 points.The Lancers will wait and see who they will face in the championship game, as Oklahoma Baptist will face Davenport on Sunday, April 24, at 9:15 a.m. (PST) in this double-elimination style tournament. The winner between Oklahoma Baptist and Davenport will meet the Lancers in the championship game on April 24 at 1:30 p.m. (PST).
