Lancers Take on the Falcons on Senior Day: Almaguer Defeats Another Ranked Wrestler

RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University Lancers and the Air Force Falcons met for the fifth time and the second time in Riverside. The Falcons came into the match 4-1 and ranked 12th in the National Wrestling Coaches Association and the National Duals Selection Committee's Mid-Major Top 20 college wrestling poll. The Falcons took the match 38-3, with the Lancers able to come with one dual victory.

The match was the final home contest of the season. It was the Senior Day celebration for seven wrestlers, including Edison Alanis, Caden Gerlach, Marcus Peterson, Arick Lopez, Louis Rojas, Christian Nunez, and Antonio Saldate.

The Lancers faced four ranked wrestlers in the match, with the heavyweight Wyatt Hendrickson being ranked #7 in the InterMat polls.

Frank Almaguer took home the solo win for the Lancers with a 7-5 sudden victory in the 165-pound weight class. Almaguer defeated the #33 wrestler in the country with a pair of takedowns, including the clinching one at the 1:16 mark in the first overtime.

Peter Acciradi also took his dual to overtime but fell short in a 3-1 decision.
