RIVERSIDE - The Fall standings for the 2023-24 Learfield Directors Cup have been released, with California Baptist University Athletics leading the nation for non-football schools with 165.50 points. This point total already surpasses the amount earned by the Lancers in their inaugural season last year, when they finished the year in 128th place overall with 135.50 points.
Vice President for Athletics, Dr. Micah Parker, reflected on the announcement, stating, "Our fall teams had some outstanding finishes this year. It's fun to see our student-athletes compete at such a high level. Overall great job by our coaches and staff as well."
Full Division I standings for the fall season will be released on January 11th, 2024, at the conclusion of the FCS Football season. However, the standings of the non-football list should stay the same between now and then, with Lancer Athletics still pacing the nation. The Lancers' points come from another highly successful postseason run from both the men's and women's cross country teams, who both finished comfortably inside the top 20 at the National Championships race in November, as well as men's soccer, who became the first CBU athletics program to advance in an NCAA team national tournament in the Division I era after defeating USD in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Learfield has only released the top-finishers list thus far, with the complete list coming next month. The Lancers are ahead of 10 programs perennially atop this list: Gonzaga, Lipscomb, UC Irvine, Portland, Providence College, Loyola Marymount, Creighton Hofstra, Saint Louis, and Vermont.
