USAF, CO--- Despite a slow first quarter, the five-seed #15 California Baptist men's water polo team came out dominant in their first showing at the West Coast Conference Tournament. The Lancers secured a 15-11 victory over four-seed #11 Loyola Marymount University, earning themselves a date with one-seed University of the Pacific tomorrow afternoon.

After falling behind by three goals in the first quarter, Head Coach Kevin Rosa's squad finally found an offensive rhythm in the next frame and ripped six goals while limiting the Lions to two for the lead heading into halftime. The stunning first-half comeback was led by Andrea Nuzzo and Hayes Beamon, along with several field blocks to keep the Lancer momentum going.

The third quarter saw CBU maintain its offensive prowess, scoring another six goals, including two from Alex Righetti and one from Luca Imbriolo. Despite LMU's attempts to close the gap, CBU held the Lions to a single goal during this period, leaving the score at 13-7 going into the final quarter. The higher-seeded team did not go quietly and managed to net four goals, but the Lancers' late efforts, including a crucial goal from Wyatt Bugbee, preserved their lead. Tanner McCreary made nine saves for the Lancers, while both Nuzzo and Righetti secured hat tricks to lead the scoring for CBU.

California Baptist will now turn its attention to the semifinals tomorrow afternoon, where it will face the one-seed #6 UoP Tigers at 2 p.m. PST in Colorado.
