RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University STUNT squad entered Saturday in pursuit of their third-straight national championships as they faced the Kentucky Wildcats. They would fulfill their quest with 24-0 and 24-2 victories over the Wildcats to claim back-to-back-to-back National Championships and move to 56-0 as a program in front of a packed Dale E. & Sarah Ann Fowler Events Center crowd.
In game one, the Lancers collected the maximum 24 points, sweeping the Wildcats in partner stunts, pyramid and tosses, jumps and tumbling, and in the team routine. The highest-rated player in the opening match was Bailee Henry, with 83 points. Savannah Frausto and Jordan Bruce earned stunter and tumbler of the opening game, respectively.
In what proved to be the final game, CBU STUNT secured their third national championship with a 24-3 victory over Kentucky. The Lancers earned the max in both matches as the Wildcats collected all three of their points in the team event in the fourth quarter. The highest-rated player in the clinching match was Jordan Bruce, with 90 points. The stunter of the game went to Sadie Hackford, while tumbler of the match was awarded to Kara Crivelli.
Head coach Brandon Seagondollar discussed how special it was to win in front of a home crowd.
"The atmosphere and crowd was absolutely amazing. Lancer nation came out and supported these athletes tenfold. The energy was next level and it definitely helped push us to be the best for our friends and family,"
Seagondollar talked about the legacy of this team and what made this team special.
"Three in a row is the start of a dynasty that not many teams get to accomplish, so to be able to say we have three in a row is amazing. This year's team was absolutely selfless and motivated to each other and we had a coaching staff that was united and driven to be the best versions of ourselves to glorify God in every aspect of this program."
The Lancers finished their historic season with a program-best 22 wins and an unprecedented third national championship.
