RIVERSIDE – The Western Athletic Conference announced the 2023 all-conference teams on Wednesday, with 2023 WAC Women's Golf Tournament champions Hailey Loh and freshman sensation Samantha Dizon included among the honorees. Nine student-athletes were named to the WAC All-Conference First Team list and eight to the Second Team. CBU has placed multiple golfers on these lists in each of the past four full seasons.
Fresh off of winning the WAC Women's Golf Tournament in a playoff, Hailey Loh earned herself a spot on the conference First Team list. Loh becomes the third Lancer to earn First Team honors, joining Jocelyn Chee (2022) and Erica Wang (2019). This is her second time making a WAC all-conference team, as she received second-team honors in 2021.
Hailey won two tournaments this season, earning her first collegiate win at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invite in Seattle in October. She led at the start of the final round and had to put in an extra hole of work to earn the crown as two opponents caught up to force a playoff the Loh would win on the first hole. The second win was the 2023 WAC Championship, another extra-hole affair, with Hailey having to overcome three opponents in two holes to win outright. Loh had a career year, averaging a single-season best 74.10 average score with seven rounds at par or better.
Samantha Dizon wasted no time announcing herself to the conference, earning Second Team honors in her debut season. Samantha becomes the first Lancer freshman to make an all-conference team with this honor. Dizon led CBU in average score this season, shooting 73.73 on average, with a single-round best of 67 (-5) during her run to the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird individual and team title.
With so much Lancer golf left in front of the true freshman, she's already etched herself into the CBU record books. She currently ranks second in the single-season round at par-or-better with 10, tied for second most rounds with counting scores, posting results in 25 of her 26 (96.1%) of rounds played, third in career scoring with an average of 73.73, fourth all-time in Par 4 scoring at 4.12 strokes, and tied for the second lowest single round score ever with the aforementioned 67.
