CORAL SPRINGS, FL--- The 2022-2023 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team was announced last week with over 1,400 golfers recognized. The California Baptist Women's Golf program boasted four honorees, including Esther Lee, Damini Law Ghanshyani, Sofia Chabon, and Samantha Dizon.
This prestigious honor is a first for Lee, Ghanshyani, and Dizon, while this marks Chabon's fourth WGCA All-American Scholar nod. Dizon had an impressive freshman season, complete with an individual tournament win, an All-WAC Second Team honor, and now being named an All-American Scholar.
The CBU Women's Golf program has had a total of 36 WGCA All-American Scholars. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of our players. To be selected, a student-athlete must: Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur, and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season, and have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
