RIVERSIDE - The Lancer men posted three incredible goals against CSUN on Sunday night, ending the week with a 3-1 win over the Matadors. California Baptist University improves to 1-3-1 on the season while simultaneously handing CSUN their first loss of the year.
"We knew the Cal game should have been a win, but it put our backs against the wall, and it was great to see the right reaction from the guys. With the schedule we are playing, we know that everything will not always go perfectly, and we have to maintain belief and resilience, and we did that tonight," said Head Coach Coe Michaelson after the victory. "There are still areas where we can get better, but the attitude and the effort was exactly what we needed. And, of course, a collection of goals that you will rarely see a team of any level produce in a single game was nice as well."
Luis Mueller recorded his fourth brace as a Lancer, scoring first and last in tonight's match. He wasted no time getting his first score in, stopping the clock just two minutes and sixteen seconds into the match.

True freshman and starting his first game with the captain's armband, Erik Krohnstad notched his goal as a Lancer just ten minutes later. CBU would take a two-goal clean sheet into halftime with them.

The Matadors would finally make it onto the scoreboard in the 56th minute, but the Lancers squashed any momentum the Matadors were building with constant pressure. CBU was awarded a free kick in the 71st minute, and Luis Mueller did what he has done so many times before: buried it with pace and precision.

After reclaiming the two-goal lead, the Lancers continued to press the action, as did the Matadors, but it was already decided in favor of the Lancers.
Freshman goalkeeper Dorian Drucks continues his steady improvement of solid play, stopping five shots on the night and ensuring a handful of crosses found no home via clearance or collecting.
CBU returns to the road next week for their only game, heading south to the University of San Diego to take on the Toreros at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13.
