Drayden Morton Claims a Ranked Win as the Lancers Wrap Road Trip in Brookings

BROOKINGS--- The California Baptist University wrestling team finished their Dakota road trip with a dual against the #10 South Dakota State Jackrabbits in Brookings. The Jackrabbits continued their incredible start with a 39-3 victory over the Lancers.
The Jackrabbits wrestled a near full lineup of ranked wrestlers, including three ranked in the top 15 in their weight classes.
The dual began at 125lbs with the lone ranked matchup of the afternoon between #27 Elijah Griffin of CBU and #17 Tanner Jordan of South Dakota State. Jordan and Griffin competed in a close contest last season in Riverside, where Jordan would come away with the 5-3 decision win. This time around, Jordan would once again walk out victorious, barely edging out Griffin 7-3 via decision.
The Jackrabbits would earn bonus points in two of the next four matches to take a 17-0 lead heading into intermission. The Lancers earned their first points of the dual in the 165lb out via freshman Drayden Morton. Morton became the second Lancer this season to defeat a ranked wrestler, besting #26 Tanner Cook 4-2 via decision. Morton's win was his first dual win of the season in his third opportunity.

The Jackrabbits closed out the match with four straight wins, earning bonus points in all four to ultimately claim the dual 39-3 at Frost Arena.
