
Lancers Stay Perfect During Opening Weekend Games

PHOENIX--- The California Baptist STUNT team began their fourth season in dominant fashion at the Arizona State STUNT Tournament. The Lancers picked up two wins against Arizona State and Grand Canyon University. CBU begins the year with a 2-0 record, continuing the program's four-year 58-game winning streak.
The Lancers opened the weekend on Friday night against the Sun Devils and cruised to a 24-1 victory. The winning effort was led by the highest-rated player, Ella Hodson, who scored 66 points for her first career highest-rated player nod. Bailee Henry secured tumbler of the game with 37 points, and Layla Langrell earned stunter of the came with a solid 60 points.
The winning ways would continue to Saturday morning, as CBU shut out Grand Canyon in a stunning 24-0 victory. This is the fourth time the Lancers have shut out the Lopes, never dropping a point to GCU on the mat in the last four years. Hodson secured the stunter of the game with 26 points, and Michaela Grim was given the tumbler of the game nod with 14 points on the mat. Henry finalized the win with her first career highest-rated player award, scoring 34 points for CBU's second win of the season.
"This weekend was a triumph in teamwork and leadership," remarked Head Coach Brandon Seagondollar. "The first years showcased their dedication and talents, while the vets' guidance was a testament to their outstanding leadership. We have a long way to go, but this team is ready to put in the work."
The Lancers will head to Dallas, Texas, next to face off in the Dallas Baptist STUNT Tournament from February 15th through the 17th.
