LAS VEGAS, NV--- California Baptist's cheer team participated in the NCA/USA College Camp this week to compete for an invitation to Nationals and kick off the season. The Lancers came away with 16 All-Americans and three first-place finishes at the Las Vegas camps.
Each year, teams from all over the country, across all divisions, compete at the NCA/USA Collegiate Camp with hopes of earning accolades heading into the season and a ticket to compete at the national championship in April. This marks the sixth straight season the cheer team has earned paid bids since transitioning into NCAA Division I.
"I am extremely proud of our teams' performance," remarked Head Coach Olivia Quick. "This is the largest camp on the college circuit with 33 teams here, and we were able to compete and remain successful. After this week, I am incredibly excited for this season."
The Lancers placed well at the camp, including several first-place finishes in different categories. CBU won the Top Gun Stunts winner with Regan Clark, Brileyah Ogden, Bailee Rankin, and Reese Stalheim in the All-Girls group stunt division. Quick's team also earned first place in the Crowd Segment category in both the advanced and intermediate divisions, taking down UC Santa Barbara, CSUN, and Utah Valley along the way. The squad took third place in the Game Day Run Off and the Rally Routine in the advanced division.
CBU placed third as Best All-Around Program, coming behind Weber State and Westcliff University, after finishing with 127 points. The Lancers secured a full paid bid to the USA Collegiate Championship, while the CBU Advanced team earned an honorary Gold Bid to NCA College Nations in Daytona, Florida after winning the All-Girl Grand Champions during the 2024 competition. The intermediate squad also earned a Gold Bid to NCA College Nations for their efforts in Las Vegas this week as well.
